Routine Maintenance:

Daily use of a dust mop is recommended. Depending on traffic and debris accumulation, a weekly or bi-weekly cleaning with a non-wax floor cleaner is recommended. Squeaky Hardwood Floor Cleaner by Basic Coatings or vinegar and water (a capful of distilled white vinegar added to a spray bottle) are the only cleaners we recommend.

Preventive Maintenance:

 ·         Keep shoes free of debris (dirt and rocks). Mats at exterior doors will help prevent sand and grit from getting onto the floor. Sand will decrease the life of the finish greatly.

 ·         Proper floor protectors on furniture will help decrease scratches and scuffs to the floor. Felt protectors are recommended on all furniture even if rarely moved. Check felt pads regularly for debris that may get imbedded and cause damage to the floor.

 ·         Wipe up spills immediately. Never wet-mop wood floors, excessive moisture can cause warping and discoloration. Non-wax floor cleaners are recommended to clean floors.

 ·         Never wear high heel shoes on wood flooring. Damaged heels that have lost their protective covering exposing the fastening nail will exert over 8,000 lbs per square inch. That is enough pressure to damage hardened concrete.
