Glitsa (conversion varnish)
Glitsa Swedish Floor Finish has been leading the floor finish industry for the past 50 years. This product is an extremely strong and durable finish. Many companies refuse to use this finish due to its high VOC, extremely strong smell, and having to turn off the gas to the home during the coating process.
During the coating process you must be gone from the home. We recommend returning 24 hours after the final coat has been applied and opening doors and windows to ventilate the home. After the home has been thoroughly ventilated you can then turn the gas back on and light the pilots to the water heater, etc... I personally recommend staying out of the home for at least 2 days after the final coat has been applied due to the strong odor. The smell will linger for several days.
Also, small children and pregnant women should stay away for as long as possible.
Glitsa has a very similar coloring to an oil poly, bringing out the natural golden/orange tone to a Red Oak floor.
Glitsa is a very hard durable finish but you need to be aware of the strong odor and amount of time you may need to be out of the home.
